Our technologist also conducts a presentation on all types of terrace boards that he takes with him and provides recommendations on choosing a terrace board for a specific object, taking into account all the nuances of the location, placement of the terrace, features of the base, soil, moisture and protection against UV rays.
Before starting the installation of the terrace, you need to take into account the most important aspect – the correct laying of the base, on which the logs-substructure for the terrace will be laid. If the platform for the terrace is built on a concrete base, then it must have a slope of at least 1 cm per 1 meter of the length of the base. This is necessary in order to ensure the flow of water that gets under the terrace through the transparency between the terrace boards during rain, when washing the terrace and melting snow.
If you are convinced of the strength and correctness of the slope of the base under the terrace, you can start the installation under the structure and the terrace board. A concrete base is the most common option, but there are many other options, such as a strip foundation, a terrace on piles with a frame of profiled pipes or calibrated timber, on adjustable supports, or on paving slabs (slabs are laid on a pillow of crushed stone, a frame is mounted on the slabs).
Each material of the terrace board has its own method of installation and fastening. The use of an open method of fastening (the terrace board is directly attached to the log) is more budget-friendly and suitable for the installation of a terrace board made of natural wood. In the case of a board made of DPK, a hidden method of fastening (stainless steel clip) is used, which provides transparency between the terrace boards of 3-4 mm for the removal of moisture from the surface of the terrace. The clip is mounted to the log using stainless screws with a countersunk head.
